About
The Full Story
We started our candle making journey in 2016 with a dream, a block of beeswax and some essential oils. The initial thought was to make a candle that was environmentally friendly, long lasting, and that smelled amazing. Our first candles were sold at our local farmers market in Durango, Colorado mostly in the form of small, simple unscented beeswax votives in beautiful wooden holders. As the years progressed, candle maker and Southwest Handmade co-owner Jaci C. experimented with different scents and waxes in hopes of creating candles that smelled wonderful and burned evenly. In 2023 after careful research, countless hours of testing and Our soy wax candles are hand poured in small batches in Durango Colorado. The wax is sustainably sourced from a soy farm in the united states. Our eco friendly clean fragrances and essential oils are also locally sourced. Because we care about our environmental impact, we use ethically and sustainably sourced ingredients. Meaning we steer clear of phylates, parafins, VOCS, patrolium, and lead ; basically all the yucks.
